The Louvre Museum stands as one of the largest museum, attracting millions of Tourists annually. Whether you're planning a solo visit or coming with a group, this below guide will help you navigate ticket purchasing, museum layout, and essential tips to make the most of your visit. Purchasing tickets online is highly recommended to avoid long queues, which can take three to four hours. Online tickets allow you to skip the line and enter directly.

Firstly sign up before booking tickets, Then on site click on tickets or book a ticket, you will reach to a official ticketing service page, there are several options to book a tickets like from individual to group bookings. First we will see Individual tickets for the Museum, in that tickets you can book maximum maximum of 6 tickets per booking inclusive adults, children, disable and other visitors entitled to free admission. This tickets grants access to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. For the museum visit you can book your tickets for next 90 days online. As there is always high demand it would be best to book tickets with a gap of at least a month. Next choose a preferred a date and time (preferably morning) like 9.00 am or 9.30 am. It is advised to reach at least 30 minutes before the selected time slot because there too it takes some time to time for the entry. This cost is 22€ per adult and the cost onsite is same as well, but if you book from third party sites then cost may be higher like GetYourGuide, Viator and Tiqets.
Its free for under 18yrs and from 18-25yrs too its free if you are a Resident of the European Economic Area and Other visitors entitled to free admission includes Job seekers (EEA), disabled visitors and the person accompanying them, etc. Its also free for Louvre members: Amis du Louvre, Louvre sponsors, CLEF card, Louvre Employees, Free passes. After filling all the details just click on finalize your order, on the next page if want to donate of 2€ select the check box, if you don't want then leave it as it is and select the terms and conditions and click on confirm your order. Payments can be made through Visa cards and American Express, select anyone and click on payment, enter your card details and make the payment, you can take the hard copy or downloaded mobile print and just show it at the entrance.
Every Tuesday is a holiday and timings are for Musée du Louvre is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday and Friday. Last entry: 1 hour before closing and Clearing of rooms: 30 minutes before closing.
Public holidays: The Louvre is closed on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. It remains open on all other public holidays unless they fall on a Tuesday, the museum’s day of closure.
Free admission: The Louvre is free for all visitors on the first Friday of the month after 6 p.m. (except in July and August) and on 14 July! But booking a time slot is mandatory online.
A louvre ticket gives you access to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, as well as to the Eugène-Delacroix National Museum the same day and the day after your visit of the Louvre museum, its just 2.5 kms away from Louvre Museum.

If you need Audio Guide then you should book along with your individual tickets, the cost for audio guide per adult is 6€. Audio Guide is available in serval languages like English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Rental requires the deposit of a valid ID which is Issued at the entrance to each wing. The ticket is non modifiable, non exchangeable and non refundable. Once the reservation is made, modifying the date and time slot will no longer be possible, so plan as per that.

Now lets go to Individual Tickets for the Exhibition Hall Napoleon: Figures of the Fool - From the Middle Ages to the Romantics
This is a newly renovated hall and the exhibition starts from 16 October 2024 – 3 February 2025 at the Hall Napoléon, In this ticket you can access permanent collections as well as Hall Napoléon but not temporary exhibitions. Process for booking tickets for this is also same as taking individual tickets. Figures of the Fool - From the Middle Ages to the Romantics is an exhibition at the Musée du Louvre that explores the role of the fool in Western art and culture. The exhibition features over 300 works from 90 institutions in Europe, France, and America. The Average duration of the visit is 2h and supported Language(s) are French, English.
Even you can opt for Individual Tickets for the Exhibition "Chefs-d’œuvre de la collection Torlonia" for individual, Masterpieces from the Torlonia Collection which is ongoing from June 26 - November 11, 2024. This ticket is also valid for admission to the museum's permanent collections but not temporary exhibitions. This is the largest ever private collection of ancient Roman sculptures, assembled throughout the 19thcentury by the Torlonia princes in Rome, is being shown to the public for the first time since the mid-20th century in a series of special exhibitions. Admission (permanent collections + exhibitions) cost €22 and it takes about for Torlonia exhibition visit is 1h30 and the location is Anne of Austria apartments,rooms 408 to 414 and supported language(s) are French, English, Italian.
Next comes the Paris Museum Pass holders and its free but you need to make compulsory time slot booking, Just show your at the Paris Museum along with the document confirming their time slot reservation. Not only this museum you can visit approx. 50 museums in Paris with the Paris museum pass.
Group tickets for the Museum and Group tickets for exhibition
There is option too for guided tours, if you want you can even choose that option but its very expensive and my suggestion is to skip the guided tour instead you can take audio guide which is cost effective. Next is Group tickets for the Museum, If you are a group of 7 or up to 25 then you can choose this option and you need to book online only as there is no option to book onsite. But in group tickets you need enter the museum via the Passage Richelieu only and the passage has fever lines which make it faster to enter the museum. In addition to the admission tickets, you must pay a reservation fee of 70for the number of paying participants. The reservation confirmation must be presented by the group leader on the day of visit. Admission tickets for participants can be purchased up until the scheduled time of the group reservation. The group reservation fee must be validated by the leader at the Group Reception Area under the Pyramid. Free admission is subject to the presentation of a valid proof of entitlement. There are only limited tickets and time slots for group booking and the booking process is same as individual tickets booking. You need to enable one time pin from your bank for a successful payment for all ticket bookings. Chairs are available throughout the museum if you need to take a break during the visit. There is no option to eat or drink in the exhibition rooms. For lunch, you can take a picnic in the Carrousel Garden or make a booking at one of the restaurants that accepts groups.
You can even choose Group tickets for exhibition-Figures of the Fool - From the Middle Ages to the Romantics which is from 16 October 2024 – 3 February 2025 at the Hall Napoléon. If you wish to visit the museum with a group of more than 6 persons, a reservation must be made in advance. Otherwise, access to the museum will be denied. There is very limited tickets and time slots for group bookings so consider a gap of at least 30 days to get confirm tickets. In this ticket also you can access permanent collections as well but not temporary exhibition excluding Hall Napoleon.
If you are running out of time or you have just 2 hours to visit then i would suggest you to visit the Denon Wing which houses some of the most famous masterpieces (Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, The Raft of the Medusa, and much more). If you want to spend the whole day at the museum, head to the Sully wing of the Louvre which is famous French paintings and historical treasures from ancient Greece and Egypt and Richelieu wings, which are much quieter. You can also explore the Tuileries Gardens from season to season. Remember to check them before coming. Entry is free all year round. The timings for Tuileries Garden 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the months of April, May, September and October, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM on the months of June, July and August, 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM on the months of January, February, March, November and December. There are several options to reach louvre as like you can reach by bus, metro or by your car (parking beneath) and even by cycle as there is separate parking for it.
