Dambulla Royal Cave Temple and Golden Temple: The statues inside are a unique mixture of religion and culture There are a lot of stairs. Make sure you get the ticket for foreigners which is around the back. You need to drive there and recommend having the right cash LKR2000. You need to ensure covered and you need to remove your shoes and cap / hat. The cave systems and statues are really beautiful and the ceilings incredible. The place is full of monkeys, and if you feed them, they won’t let you climb in peace! The breathtaking views and rich cultural heritage make it a must-visit destination in Sri Lanka. And one more thing to experience in Dambulla, Its hot air ballooning. The balloons take off early in the morning around 4 am, providing you with breathtaking views of the wide lake below and the city of Dambulla as the sun rises. Sigiriya: Great place to visit. For those who love to see the sunrise from the top, you can arrive from 5:00 AM onwards. The site is amazing, you really feel the ancient vibe once you enter the complex. And of course the palace ruins on top of the rock is impressive. Prepare to climb 1250 stairs so wear comfy shoes. Entrance ticket price is Approx. USD 35 per person for foreigners. The road going to Sigiriya is a dirt road and uneven. If you love historical places, nature, to walk peacefully and love to see a clear view from the top of a rock, Midway, the iconic Lion's Paw gateway emerges, a monumental reminder of King Kasyapa's vision. It's here that the climb transforms, as the steps carve a steeper path through the rock. Each step upwards is a step back in time, closer to the summit where a king once surveyed his kingdom. There are plenty of hotels and homestays nearby, making it convenient to explore. Don’t forget to check out the nearby elephant rides as well. I highly recommend Lion Rock to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. It's a fantastic mix of history, adventure, and natural beauty. Do explore similar like Sigiriya rock in India, Its called as Puligundu Rock Mountain.
Kitulgala: For adventure lovers, Kitulgala is a must-visit destination. Known for its natural water sports, this place offers activities like canyoning, white-water rafting, sailing, and ziplining. If you’re looking for a reliable rafting team, Team 39 comes highly recommended for their excellent service. I personally experienced it. Depending on the activities you choose, you could easily spend a whole day or even two days. Make sure to try canyoning, where you’ll slide down rocks into natural pools—an experience like no other! The white water rafting is good and the surroundings were beautiful, and have fun jumping in water in some location while on raft, White water rafting, sliding down cascading rocks with flowing water and jumping into plunge pools from varying heights, zip lining through the trees and into the water were all a thrilling and adventurous experience.
Nuwara Eliya: Often referred to as "Little England" for its cool climate and beautiful hill station views. Spend at least one night here and visit the nearby Sita Amman Temple, which holds a unique connection to the Ramayana. You can also take a scenic train ride from Nuwara Eliya for your next adventure. Nuwara Eliya is a must visit for any traveler who visits Sri Lanka especially the nature lovers. The beautiful landscape of tea plantations; fresh air surrounded by greenery; cool weather, lots of stunning waterfalls; visiting the tea factory and tea tasting; relaxing at the cafe with Ceylon tea and pastries while enjoying the view, etc. Another attraction is Hakkala Botanical Garden. The time required to visit the garden needed is approximately 3-4 hours.
Ellewala Waterfall: Beautiful eye catching waterfall situated Ella - Wellawaya road., Next head to Ellewala Waterfall from Nuwara Eliya, Very few tourists including foreigners know about this hidden waterfall, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a quieter experience. You have to walk nearly 2 km to reach waterfall from main road or take tuk-tuk. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and shallow waters, making it an ideal spot for a refreshing dip. You can reach the falls either by trekking a short distance or taking a tuk-tuk. It's definitely a great option if you want to avoid the crowds that you find at other waterfalls. But in the weekends its crowded. The real experience in to the wild.

The waterfall itself is a striking sight, cascading gracefully over rugged rocks into a crystal-clear pool below. The backdrop of lush green forest adds to the enchantment, creating a picturesque scene that's perfect for both relaxation and photography.
Yala National Park: If you're fan of seeing wildlife, Yala National Park should be on your list. Yala National Park is the best reserve in Sri Lanka for seeing a wide variety of wildlife, and in particular leopards, elephants and sloth bears. The park is renowned for its leopard sightings, especially early in the morning around 4:00 am when the leopards are most active. While it can be a bit pricey, spotting a leopard in its natural habitat is a thrilling experience. You can also book a morning, afternoon, or whole-day safari. I recommend booking a whole day, as you might not have the chance to see some of the animals in a short period. By visiting the park in the months of July and August when there is less rain, there is a greater opportunity to see a lot of wild animals and around. Mirissa Whale Watching: Its is one of the best places in the world to go for whale watching, and Mirissa is the top spot for it. Plan to go early in the morning to increase your chances of seeing these majestic creatures. It’s an unforgettable experience that’s well worth the early wake-up call.
Madu Ganga River Safari: For a unique adventure, take a motorboat ride through the Madu Ganga River, a beautiful mangrove forest. During the safari, you’ll learn about cinnamon harvesting and cultivation, which is a local specialty. It’s both an educational and visually stunning experience. It takes about 2 and half hours. You go through mangrove forests, see several islands, see how Cinnamon is made, drink a Cinnamon tea, get a fish therapy. Ride will include a Cinnamon production place, a temple and a fish therapy.
